The Toll System to be Postponed again?
Bus carriers and road hauliers threatened with a false start of the toll system on March 1st. The road transport companies have not bought on-board devices and are refusing to pay a rental fee, which will cost them BGN 15 million a year. They also asked for a postponement for the introduction of the toll system.

Toll Charges for Heavy Goods Vehicles will be from 3 to 7 Stotinki per km
The toll charges for heavy goods vehicles, weighing between 3.5 and 12 tonnes, will be from 3 to 7 stotinki per kilometre, depending on the emission class of the vehicle and the road catregory. This is set out in the decree adopted on February 19 by the Council of Ministers to amend the Tariff for fees collected for the passage and use of the national road network.

As of February 17, motorists who drive on the national road network in Bulgaria without an up-to-date electronic vignette will be liable to huge fines. The offenders will be filmed by the cameras of the toll system and will automatically be included in the database, BG TOLL said quoted by BNT.
The Sale of Monthly Vignettes for Heavy Goods Vehicles over 3.5 Tonnes will be Suspended as of 1 March 2020
As of 2 February 2020, the sale of monthly electronic vignettes for heavy goods vehicles with a total technically permissible maximum mass of over 3.5 tonnes shall be suspended. The last option to purchase a monthly vignette will be on February 1, 2020 and an expiration date of February 29, 2020, according to the Road Infrastructure Agency.
The Toll System Will Be Put into Exploitation Today
The toll system will be put into exploitation with a trial period which starts today.
The cameras which will detect the traveled distance are already installed.
The TOLL system starts the testing today, however, the actual collection of the charges for trucks over 3 tonnes and a half will start in March next year.

Bulgarian National Assembly Postpones Launch of Toll System to 1 March 2020
The National Assembly has adopted amendments to the Roads Act on second reading, a Focus News Agency reporter said. The amendments were tabled by GERB MP Alexander Nenkov and a group of MPs.
The First Tests of the Toll System in Bulgaria Began

The first tests of the future toll system for trucks and buses started. The demonstration will take place at Lesnovo Airport.
Toll charges will take effect from 16 August and will only apply to vehicles weighing over 3 tonnes and a half. Cars will continue to run with electronic vignettes.
The Toll Tax in Bulgaria for Trucks up to 12 Tons will be BGN 0.10/km
Trucks and buses up to 12 tonnes will pay a fee of about 10 Bulgarian cents per kilometer for over about 10,000 km of national roads to be covered by the toll system. This was announced by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW), which starts talks with the carriers about the tariffs, reports Mediapool.
