After a Meeting with PM Boyko Borissov: Bulgarian Carriers won't Protest on January 13th

The government will satisfy the demands of the carriers and the TOLL system will start with lower tariffs. Only the motorways and first-class roads will be covered by the TOLL system, and the second-class roads will be toll-free.

This became clear after a meeting of the protesting carriers with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, which lasted 3 hours.

BGN 746.3 Million Is the Expected Revenue from Toll Taxes and E-Vignettes in 2020.

BGN 450 million is the estimated revenue in 2020 from toll taxes for the use of the national road network of heavy goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes and BGN 296.3 million from electronic vignettes. Thus, a total of BGN 746.3 million will be collected from fees for the use of the national road network network.

The Toll System Will Be Put into Exploitation Today

The toll system will be put into exploitation with a trial period which starts today.

The cameras which will detect the traveled distance are already installed. 

The TOLL system starts the testing today, however, the actual collection of the charges for trucks over 3 tonnes and a half will start in March next year.

Selling E-Vignettes Will be Hampered Due to System Updates

Between 17.00 and 23.00 on July 29, 2019, activities are planned to implement updates of the electronic toll collection system based on time and distance traveled.

Particular delays and interruptions may arise that could hinder sales of electronic vignettes, warned the Road Infrastructure Agency.

1st Meeting of the Public Advisory Council on the Introduction of the TOLL System

Regional Minister Petya Avramova convened a first meeting of the Public Advisory Council on the introduction of the TOLL system.

It is expected that the representatives will be present at the meeting for further discussion of the price and scope of the TOLL system.
