The First Tests of the Toll System in Bulgaria Began

The state expects to collect over BGN 1 billion  per year, reported NOVA TV. 

The first tests of the future toll system for trucks and buses started. The demonstration will take place at Lesnovo Airport.

Toll charges will take effect from 16 August and will only apply to vehicles weighing over 3 tonnes and a half. Cars will continue to run with electronic vignettes.

This was announced by the Minister of Regional Development Petya Avramova during her hearing at the Regional Commission for Progress on the Implementation of the Electronic Billing System, reported NOVA TV.

Hauliers and Carriers Insist that the TOLL System in Bulgaria Be Postponed to 2020

The construction of the toll system is scheduled and ready to be released on August 16, announced Regional Minister Petya Avramova last week. From May 15th, testing of the toll system begins in the "taxi" section based on distance traveled, she said.
 

Problems With the E-vignettes Introduced on 1 January

Today is the fourth day with problems with the e-vignettes introduced in Bulgaria on 1 January, 2019, reported the Bulgarian National Radio.

No terminals for purchasing electronic vignettes at border checkpoints and petrol stations, or terminals which are out of order is what the public have been complaining of.

Bulgarian Parliament Adopts Introduction of Toll Road System

Sofia. The Parliament has adopted today final amendments to the Roads Act, which introduce a mixed system for charging different categories of motor vehicles and fees based on time and distance travelled, Focus News Agency reports. The amount of the fees will be proposed by the regional minister and the minister of finance.

GERB: Bulgarian Municipal Roads will not be Funded via Tolls

Sofia. Toll proceeds will not fund municipal roads, other options will be sought for those roads, GERB MP Aleksandar Nenkov told reporters in connection with the draft on roads, Focus News Agency reports. Nenkov explained that all proceeds from the toll system would be channelled to road maintenance, but not to municipal infrastructure.
