Türkiye draws over 50 million foreign tourists in 11 months

More than 50 million foreign tourists visited Türkiye in January-November, up 7.1 percent from the same period of 2023, according to data from the Culture and Tourism Ministry on Dec. 20.

Including Turks residing abroad, the number of total visitors reached 57.36 million people in the first 11 months of 2024.

Foreign visitors, tourism revenues continue to rise

The number of foreign visitors and Türkiye's tourism revenues continued to increase, separate data showed on July 31.

Türkiye aims to draw 60 million visitors and generate $60 billion in tourism revenues this year.

Foreign tourist arrivals increased by 9.1 percent in June compared with the same month of last year to 6.8 million, the Culture and Tourism Ministry said.

Antalya welcomes record 4 mln tourists in five months

Antalya, one of Türkiye's most popular holiday destinations, welcomed 3.96 million foreign tourists in the first five months of 2024.

The number of foreign tourist arrivals in the January-May period increased by a strong 16.3 percent from a year ago, the Culture and Tourism Ministry said in a statement.

Association seeks to expand tourism to all 81 provinces

The Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB) has launched its campaign with the aim of expanding tourism activities year-round to the country's 81 provinces.

"With the 'Century of Tourism' project, we set a goal of increasing our country's share of tourism even higher," said Firuz Bağlıkaya, the president of the association.

Tourism revenues leap 122 percent to $5.4 billion

Turkey's tourism revenues jumped 122 percent on an annual basis in the first quarter of 2022, while nearly 2.1 million foreign tourists visited the country in March, marking a robust increase of 129 percent from a year earlier.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) said on April 29 that the country's tourism income amounted to $5.45 billion in January-March.

Antalya welcomes 9 million holidaymakers

Antalya, on Turkey's Mediterranean's coast and which is very popular with local and international holidaymakers, attracted a total of 8.9 million foreign tourists between January and November this year.

This marked a staggering 163 percent increase from the same period of 2020 when the city hosted around 3.4 million international visitors.
