Hoard of Viking coins unearthed in Denmark
Nearly 300 silver coins believed to be more than 1,000 years old have been discovered near a Viking fortress site in northwestern Denmark, a museum said on April 20.
The rare trove, lying in two spots not far apart, was unearthed by a young girl who was metal detecting in a cornfield last autumn.

The palace on the hill
Several indications suggested its existence, but after the recent excavations on Castelli Hill in the Old Town of Hania it is now almost certain that the hill was a palatial center of the 13-14th centuries BC that may have been the most important in western Crete. The movable finds also include a "treasure trove" of 33 silver coins from the Classical period.
