The leaders of the European Union came together last Saturday on the Capitoline Hill to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome in what was a symbolic display of unity at a time that can only be described as complicated.

European Union leaders renewed their vows at a special summit in Rome on March 25, celebrating the troubled bloc's 60th anniversary with a commitment to a common future without Britain.

On March 25 Bulgarian President Rumen Radev will participate in a ceremony marking the 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome, which set the beginning of the creation of the European Union.

BELGRADE - May 9, marked as the day of victory over fascism and Nazism in World War II, is also celebrated as Europe Day to commemorate the day when the then French foreign minister Robert Schuman laid the foundations of a united Europe in 1950.
