South Africa's ex-Olympic runner Oscar Pistorius was released from jail on parole Friday and "is now at home", authorities said, almost 11 years after he shot dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in a crime that gripped the world.
Man handed 16.5-year sentence for fatal hit and run
A court in Thessaloniki has imposed a 16.5-year sentence on a 27-year-old man after finding him guilty of killing a woman in a hit and run incident in November 2022.
The man hit the woman, a university student, then made a U-turn and hit her again, before speeding away.

It stars Andreas Damm as Pistorius and Toni Garrn as Steenkamp. The film centres on the fatal shooting of Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day as well as the court case.
Court to hear appeal against Pistorius in November
South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) will hear the state’s appeal against the six-year murder sentence handed to Paralympic gold medallist Oscar Pistorius on Nov. 3, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said on Tuesday.
The state will argue that six years in jail is too lenient a sentence for the murder by Pistorius of Reeva Steenkamp, his girlfriend, in 2013.

Pistorius convicted of murder on appeal
Oscar Pistorius was convicted of murder on Dec. 3 by South Africa's Supreme Court of Appeal, which threw out his earlier conviction on a lesser charge for shooting dead his girlfriend in 2013.
