AFP - China has blasted US tariffs on solar panel imports, filing a complaint at the World Trade Organization in the latest salvo of the trade battle between the world's two economic giants.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has warned President Donald Trump against "alienating allies in a tit-for-tat trade war" in a statement on  U.S.-Turkey economic relations.

Turkey has increased tariffs on several United States-origin products.

The Turkish Trade Ministry has said Turkey would keep defending domestic steel and aluminum exporters on any international platform against additional United States tariffs, which are "against World Trade Organization [WTO] rules."

Turkey said on Aug 10 it would retaliate to the raising of steel and aluminium tariffs by the U.S. administration.

In a tweet, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hami Aksoy said President Donald Trump's decision, which also violates the rules of World Trade Organization does not comply with "state seriousness".

The United States will begin collecting 25 percent tariffs on another $16 billion in Chinese goods on Aug. 23, the U.S. Trade Representative's office said on Aug. 7 as it published a final tariff list targeting 279 imported product lines.

The White House will open its doors for the president of the European Commission Wednesday, with relations looking strained amid tariffs and the possibility of an all-out trade war.
