A big 7.3 magnitude earthquake strikes between Philippines and Indonesia

 

The 7.3-magnitude quake was measured at a depth of 380 miles (617 km) at 2:13′ pm local time. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS) the quake struck in the centre of the Celebes Sea, off Sulu.

 

An aftershock of 4,9 magnitude was recorded 12 minutes later.

 

7.2 magnitude quake strikes off Central America coast

BELGRADE - A 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the Pacific coast of Central America. It was felt in several countries across the region. The US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami warning.

"Hazardous" tsumani waves are possible within 300km of the quake epicenter along the coasts of Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras, the Center specified.

Powerful 7.4 earthquake hits Japan

A powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake has rocked Japan, a day after a strong 6.5 earthquake had hit the Kiusus island. The earthquake struck in the early morning hours of Saturday with the epicenter southeast of Kumamoto, the US Geological Survey said. A tsunami warning has been issued by Japanese authorities. Details about casualties are not yet available.

Alaska town evacuates after quake tsunami warning

Residents in a remote section of the US Aleutian islands rushed to higher ground Monday after an 7.9-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Alaska triggered a local tsunami warning, an official said.
      
But the warnings were lifted an hour or two after the quake, which struck at 2053 GMT some 24 kilometers southeast of remote Little Sitkin Island, in the western Aleutians.
