Türkiye's annual inflation slows to 9-month low in July

Türkiye's annual consumer inflation significantly cooled to a nine-month low of 61.78% this July, below economists' forecasts, according to official data released on Monday.

Headline inflation decreased for the second consecutive month in July from 71.60% in June, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) data showed.

Abdülhamid Han ship dispatched to Black Sea for drilling

Türkiye's seventh-generation drill ship, Abdülhamid Han, has set sails for the Black Sea to start drilling in the region.

Abdülhamid Han vessel will move to its new location in the Black Sea, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar told reporters on board the vessel, which is the fourth ship in Türkiye's deep sea drilling fleet.

Türkiye blocks access to Instagram

Türkiye on Friday blocked access to the Instagram social media network, the national communications authority said, following censorship accusations against the U.S. company by Türkiye's  communications director.

The BTK communications authority said in a post on its website that "instagram.com has been blocked by a decision on the date of 02/08/2024", without adding further details.

Türkiye reaffirms commitment to global peace after landmark prisoner exchange

Türkiye on Thursday reaffirmed its dedication to international peace and stability after leading a landmark prisoner exchange operation.

"Türkiye will continue to offer every possible contribution to the establishment of peace and stability in the international arena," Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Turkish national women's volleyball team came from two sets behind on July 29 to beat the Netherlands 3-2 (19-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-13) to win its first match at the Paris Olympics.

Türkiye made a slow start to the match, losing the first two sets against a determined and dominant Dutch team.
