Two volunteers standing guard to prevent the demolition of an Armenian orphanage publicly known as "Kamp Armen" have been attacked by unidentified men on the 100th day of the peaceful protest in Istanbul's Tuzla district.

A number of examples of hate speech have turned into hate crimes in Turkey in recent weeks and no prosecutor has so far taken the initiative regarding these statements and crimes, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul deputy Garo Paylan has stated. 

The Human Rights Association (?HD) in Turkey has brought the case of a partly demolished Armenian orphanage in Istanbul to the agenda of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament. 

Demolition of the Kamp Armen orphanage started in May but was subsequently halted, when the owner of the land said he would donate it to the Armenian community in Istanbul. 

Former Trabzon police intelligence branch chief Faruk Sarı gave his testimony to Istanbul's prosecutor as a suspect in the murder case of Armenian-Turkish journalist Hrant Dink in 2007.

Former Istanbul Police Chief Celalettin Cerrah gave his testimony to the public prosecutor's office on Dec. 15 in the case into the murder of Armenian-Turkish journalist Hrant Dink.

Civil servants and institutions allegedly implicated in the murder of the Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink should be investigated, the Constitutional Court stated in its detailed ruling on the case on Nov. 12.

The top Turkish court said the case was not probed efficiently and the victim’s rights were violated, in a ruling issued last July.
