Four migrants have been killed while nine remain missing after their boat capsized off Turkey's Aegean coast.

A boat smuggling Iraqi migrants from Turkey's Aegean Ayd?n province to Greece capsized near Bulamaç Island, early on Dec. 10. 

Turkish coast guards recovered the bodies of four refugees off the coast of the Aegean province of Mu?la late Nov. 19, Turkish Coast Guard Command sources said.

At least one person has died and two others are missing after a boat carrying refugees sank on Oct. 27 in the Aegean Sea, off the Turkish province of ?zmir.

The Turkish Coast Guard on Oct. 28 said 42 people were rescued from the sea soon after the incident off the resort town of Çe?me. It also said a search and rescue operation was underway to find two missing refugees. 

Turkish Coast Guard teams have rescued more than 150 migrants on the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean as they were apparently trying to reach Europe, which is attempting to cope with refugees arriving en masse.

At least 12 migrants, believed to be Syrians, became the latest victims of a worsening refugee crisis when two boats sank after leaving southwestern Turkey for the Greek island of Kos on Sept. 2.  

A 10-month-old baby drifted a kilometer from the coastline of Turkey's northwestern Çanakkale province until a coast guard boat arrived to save her on July 3.

Melda Ilg?n was placed in an inflatable ring by her mother in the Ayvac?k district of Çanakkale, on the southern coast of the Dardanelles, before she was swept away.

Seven people were confirmed dead and nine were rescued on Monday by the Turkish coast guard, east of the Greek island Symi, in the southeastern Aegean, the Athens-Macedonian News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Two Greek fishing boats retreated after a Turkish submarine surfaced in front, as they were about to enter Turkish waters off Turkey's western Bodrum district.

Several shops in Basmane, an Ä°zmir neighborhood where illegal refugees from Iraq, Somalia and Syria reside, have included life vests and similar equipment into their inventory, as they attempt to reach Greece.

Locals say the people buying the life vests or similar equipment are refugees who mainly live in Basmane and aim to reach Europe through Greece.
