AKP delegation meets İYİ Party's new leader

A ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) delegation, including the party's parliamentary leaders, visited the İYİ (Good) Party's new leader, Müsavat Dervişoğlu, on May 30.

The AKP delegation was led by Abdullah Güler, Özlem Zengin, Bahadır Yenişehirlioğlu, Abdulhamit Gül and Muhammet Emin Akaşoğlu, and included the party's deputy leader, Mustafa Elitaş.

Erdoğan, Özel hold talks in parliament, schedule follow-up meeting

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Özgür Özel have engaged in discussions during a meeting held within the precincts of the Turkish parliament.

The encounter between Erdoğan and Özel transpired on April 23 as part of the commemoration of National Sovereignty and Children's Day.

Erdogan aims to regain major cities, names candidates

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday named several of his party's candidates for March's nationwide election.

The ruling party will try to recover cities lost to the opposition's Republican People's Party, or CHP, five years ago — including the country's largest city, Istanbul, and the capital, Ankara.

İYİ Party to run solely in all provinces in municipal polls

İYİ (Good) Party leader Meral Akşener has revealed plans to contest all 81 provinces, including key battlegrounds Istanbul and Ankara, in the upcoming local elections without forming any alliances.

The announcement comes as Istanbul and Ankara mayors Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş, respectively, declared their intentions to seek re-election in the upcoming March municipal elections.
