Approximately five million Turks across the country are expected to go on holiday in July and August, with the June 23 mayoral elections ending and schools breaking up for the summer, tourism players have said.

The Greek island of Santorini was voted the second best island in the world in online site ‘TripAdvisor’s’ ‘Travellers’ Choice Awards’. Crete and Rhodes are also kong the top 10 European for the site’s users.

Providenciales, the most populated island in the Turks and Caicos, Caribbean, has been voted as the best island in the world in TripAdvisor's annual ranking this year.

Maui in Hawaii is second, followed by Roatan in Honduras.

Santorini is listed as a very respectable fourth, worldwide.
