Former US president Donald Trump on Oct. 28 hailed the sale of Twitter to tech billionaire Elon Musk, but declined to commit to rejoining the platform.

Elon Musk took control of Twitter and fired its top executives late on Oct. 27 in a deal that puts one of the leading platforms for global discourse in the hands of the world's richest man.

Following the takeover, Musk tweeted that the "the bird is freed," referencing the company's iconic avian logo.

Elon Musk, the billionaire poised to acquire Twitter later this week, strolled into the company's headquarters Wednesday carrying a porcelain sink and tweeting "Entering Twitter HQ - let that sink in!"

Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu states that social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and TikTok are created to oppress democratic governments, adding that the U.S. has been demanding the data of Syrian people from Türkiye for six years.
