Ulubey Canyon in the western province of Uşak, the world's second longest canyon, is set to host hot air balloon flights beginning next year, aiming to draw more tourists to the scenic region.

A statue of a woman from the Early Roman Imperial Period has been discovered during the ongoing excavation at the ancient city of Blaundos, located in the Sülümenli village of Ulubey district in the western province of Uşak.

Travel experts have selected Turkey's best five canyons to visit, with Ulubey in the Aegean province of Uşak topping the list, daily Milliyet has reported.

"Ulubey is the world's second longest canyon, and many movies have been shot here," the daily said, quoting the experts' opinions.

Touted as the second largest canyon in the world, the Ulubey Canyon in the western Turkish province of Uşak, has hosted 250,000 visitors in the last two years after the construction of a 131-meter-high glass terrace. The glass terrace, which is 135-square-meters, was built in the form of a shipboard as a part of the "Park Canyon Project."

Mesotimolos, an ancient city from the Lydian civilization located close to the Aegean province of Uşak's Düzköy district, awaits archaeological excavations for its discovery. 

Though not for the faint of heart, a new glass terrace cantilevered over the western province of U?ak's Ulubey Canyon has been attracting a large number of brave visitors since it opened last month.
