Unemployment in Poland

According to a report, released by Eurostat, Bulgaria's unemployment rate in December 2023 remained static at 4.3%, a marginal increase from the 4% reported in December 2022. Approximately 130,000 people were registered as unemployed during the period.

Eurozone unemployment fell in March to a record low of 6.5% from 6.6% in February and below the unemployment rate of 6.8% a year earlier (in March 2022). This is the lowest unemployment rate in the eurozone since 1998 - just before the euro was launched in January 1999, according to data from the European official statistics agency Eurostat.

Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Romania advanced 0.1 percentage points from the previous month, to 5.1%, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) announced on Wednesday. According to INS, the male unemployment rate was 0.7 percentage points higher than the female unemployment rate.

Turkey's unemployment rate dropped by 0.5 percentage points to 13.2 percent in 2020, the country's statistical authority said on March 22.

Last year, the number of unemployed people was 4.08 million, down from 4.4 million in 2019, TÜİK figures showed.

Meanwhile, the number of unemployed people - aged 15 and over - was 4.06 million last year, down from 4.4 million in 2019.

In 2019, the year before COVID-19 containment measures were widely introduced by EU Member States, unemployment rates continued to vary widely across the NUTS 2 regions of the EU's 27 Member States.

Unemployment in the eurozone fell to a 12-year low in February, the month before coronavirus containment measures began to be introduced widely across Europe.
The jobless rate was 7.3 percent in the 19 countries sharing the euro currency, the lowest level since March 2008, European Union statistics office Eurostat said on Wednesday.

Unemployment rate in the European Union stood at 6.3 percent in September, marking the lowest rate since 2000, the block's statistical office said on Oct. 31.

The unemployment rate in Turkey occurred as 13.5 percent with 3.1 percentage point increase annually, the country's statistical authority announced on March 15.

Unemployment in the eurozone fell in November, data showed on Wednesday, as joblessness in Europe neared pre-crisis levels, reports AFP. 

Eurostat said the jobless rate in the single currency area fell to 7.9 percent in November, a 10-year low and down from a revised 8.0 percent for the previous month.

One of the most visible and distressing consequences of the 2008-09 financial crisis was the marked increase in unemployment across Europe, reaching heights that had not been seen for decades.
