A total of 58,500 arrestees and convicts will wear single-type uniforms at their court appearances, according to a regulation introduced by a recent state of emergency decree.

All suspects and convicts under arrest for “crimes against the constitutional order” in Turkey will have to wear single-type uniforms during court appearances, the Official Gazette said on Dec. 24.

Moroccan authorities have banned the production and sale of burkas due to security considerations.

The Interior Ministry has circulated a letter among its employees responsible for trade in towns ordering a ban on the sale of the Muslim garment which covers the entire body.

According to the Ministry, burkas are often used as a disguise by criminals.

The members of the lower chamber of the Parliament of the Netherlands have adopted with a huge majority the ban on wearing burkas in certain public places like schools and hospitals, reported AFP.

"The law has been passed," stated the spokesperson of Parliament specifying that the ban is valid for public transport as well.

Students at a high school in the Central Anatolian province of Konya have received permission to wear an abaya over their school uniforms, after the school's principal approved of the decision. 

The headscarf is again the issue; the newly-introduced freedom to wear it at the elementary school level is now being debated.
