UN group on enforced disappearances to visit Turkey for first time in almost two decades
A delegation of the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances will pay an official visit to Turkey next week in order to study measures adopted by the government to counter enforced disappearances.
UNCHR: More than 800,000 migrants passed through Greece in 2015
Increasing numbers of refugees and migrants are taking their chances aboard unseaworthy boats in a desperate bid to reach Europe. From the 972,551 arrivals by sea in 2015, more than 800,000 passed through Greece according to data of the UNCHR’s International Migration Organization.
According to the demographics, 25% of arrivals are children, 17% women and 58% men.
UN Puts Death Toll of Ukraine's Latest Unrest at 127
A total of 127 people have died in Ukraine's east and south as a result of violence over the past weeks, a United Nations official reported Wednesday.
"More arms, and more arms" are being used in the standoff, as Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights Ivan Simonovic was quoted by the Washington Post as telling the UN Security Council.
