Vučić to discuss elections with Kosovo Serbs

BELGRADE -- Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić said on Tuesday that he would meet with representatives of Serbs in Kosovo discuss elections called there for June 8.

BELGRADE - Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Secretary-General Lamberto Zannier has urged Serbs to take part in the June 8 legislative elections in Kosovo-Metohija.

In a statement to reporters on Saturday, Zannier said that he has always been convinced that progress on the Kosovo issue requires participation in elections.

Presenting the UN secretary-general’s report on Kosovo to the Security Council on Tuesday, Kosovo mission chief Farid Zarif urged Belgrade and Pristina to stay on track with the implementation of their landmark April 2013 deal despite their differences and internal political situations.

BELGRADE - The UN Security Council will hold a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the latest report by Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on the situation in Kosovo, and Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic will also speak at the meeting.

Nikolic will meet with Ban during his visit to New York, the presidential press service has stated.

The European Union will deploy over 60 observers to monitor the national elections in Kosovo on June 8, while other international missions are planning to send more monitors.

President to attend UNSC meeting on Tuesday

BELGRADE -- Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić will attend a meeting on Kosovo and Metohija at the UN Security Council (UNSC) in New York on Tuesday.

This is according to the president's media relations office, which issued a statement on Sunday.

The Central Election Commission of Kosovo, CEC, is continuing preparations for the upcoming general elections, which will be held across the country on June 8.

Enis Halimi, executive chief of the CEC secretariat said they “have made all necessary activities and operations in order to ensure that everyone can use his civic and political right to vote”.
