UN appoints first woman to head peacekeeping force in Cyprus
UN chief Ban Ki-moon named the first ever woman to serve as the head of a UN peacekeeping operation Monday, appointing a Norwegian commander to the UN mission in Cyprus.
Major General Kristin Lund of Norway, 56, will replace outgoing Major General Chao Liu of China in mid-August.

VS could participate in eight more UN, EU missions
BELGRADE -- Serbian Army Chief of the General Staff Gen. Ljubiša Diković says there is a possibility VS soldiers could participate in eight more multinational operations.
Seven of those would be under the operational control of the United Nations (UN) and one under the European Union (EU).

Serbian medical team in Lebanon earns medals
BELGRADE - Members of the Serbian and Spanish contingent within the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon received medals for their successful performance of tasks in the mission.
At the ceremony in the command centre of the UN multinational operation in Lebanon at the Miguel de Cervantes base, Serbian peacekeepers received the medal from Head of Mission Major-General Paolo Serra.
