The U.S. Navy's guided-missile destroyer USS Donald Cook has completed a joint exercise with Turkish naval forces in the Mediterranean. The state-run Anadolu Agency captured images from abroad the destroyer after the drill

The U.S. will send an additional anti-missile Aegis-equipped ship to the Mediterranean this fall to defend Turkey and other NATO allies against ballistic missile threats, U.S. Navy spokeswoman Cmdr. Pamela Rawe told Anadolu Agency on Aug. 19. 

"The U.S. is committed to the defense of our NATO allies, which includes Turkey," Rawe said.

A laser weapon deployed aboard the USS Ponce in the Gulf has performed beyond expectations in four months of operational testing, the chief of Navy research said on Dec. 10, lifting hopes for a new U.S. defense against cheap anti-ship arms.

Joint drills enhance military co-operation and mutual confidence

Chinese ships steamed June 10 toward waters near Hawaii to participate for the first time in the world’s largest naval exercises hosted by Washington - a rare opportunity to build trust with the U.S. and regional rivals including the Philippines and Japan.

The US navy extended the mission of the USS Truxtun in the Black Sea, reports Bulgaria's public broadcaster BNT.

The reason are the tensions in Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea by Russia. 

The guided-misslie destroyer, which is based in Greece, sailed in the Black Sea in March to participate in a joint military exercise of the navies of Bulgaria, Romania and the US.
