Prosecutor seeks three aggravated life sentences for journalists over Gülen links

A prosecutor has sought three aggravated life sentences each for journalists Nazlı Ilıcak, Ahmet Altan and Mehmet Altan in a case into the media leg of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), which widely believed to have been behind the July 15, 2016, failed coup attempt. 

Second Turkish soldier at PM's dinner table killed by ISIL in Syria

A second soldier who sat at Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım's New Year's dinner table in December 2016 was killed in an Islamic State Iraq and Levant (ISIL) attack on Feb. 8 during the ongoing Euphrates Shield operation in northern Syria, according to the Turkish Armed Forces. 

Turkish newspaper to pay compensation to former CHP MP

Pro-government Turkish daily Ak?am has been sentenced to pay 6,000 Turkish Liras in compensation to former Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Umut Oran for publishing a manufactured story alleging an assassination plot against President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an's daughter, Sümeyye Erdo?an, which they had claimed involved Oran, daily Cumhuriyet reported on April 20.

Second arrest warrant issued for Gülen, first one for Uslu

A Turkish criminal court on Feb. 24 issued another arrest warrant for the U.S.-based Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen as a part of the probe into the ?parallel state,? in which 28 suspects have been arrested so far. The court also issued an arrest warrant for Emre Uslu, a columnist and a former police official.
