Mayor calls for end to 'lawlessness' in Athens after vandalism spree

Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis on Monday called for an end to lawlessness in the capital following a vandalism spree by self-styled anarchists who trashed dozens of store facades on Monday night in solidarity with the rejection of an appeal by a woman jailed on terrorism charges. 

Vandals smash Holocaust memorial in northern Greece

A memorial commemorating 1,484 Jews from Kavala who perished in Nazi death camps in World War II, was targeted by vandals on Wednesday night, local media reported.

The vandals appear to have used hammers to smash the marble coating on the memorial, which was erected about a year ago in the northern Greek town.

An unprecedented incident that took place three months ago came to surface these days. A group of 20 German young people vandalized an Athens subway train by painting graffiti all over it.
They filmed what they did and shared it in the social media.
At least two of the accounts used indicate that they have done it in other countries as well.

 

Athens mayor offers NTUA help with graffiti cleanup

Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis on Tuesday contacted the rector of the National Technical University of Athens, Yiannis Golias, and said that municipal staff who specialize in removing graffiti from buildings were available to help purge the exterior walls of the institution of a large black and white adornment that has fueled controversy.
