Bulgaria to Host Expert Meetings within BSEC Presidency

Bulgaria will host a number of meetings during April within the framework of its rotational presidency of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC).

A meeting of the transport ministers of the BSEC member states will take place on April 16 at the Grand Hotel Sofia, which will be attended by the organization's Secretary General Victor Tvircun.

Construction in Bulgaria Posts Growth

The construction market in Bulgaria in 2013 showed signs of resurrection, shows an analysis of the National registry of new buildings. 

According to the data, there was an increase in demand and investments in vacation homes and office space. 

The growth in construction in 2013 placed Sofia on the top place in built-up area in Bulgaria. 

Bulgaria's Varna Airport Switches to Summer Timetable

The summer timetable of the Varna Airport came into effect and the number of flights has increased. 

According to airport representatives, this year there will be a new regular route to Belgrade and to Istanbul. 

The Air Serbia flights to and from Belgrade start on May 1, three times a week and from June 15 the flights will be daily. 

Bulgaria's NEK Also Indebted to Varna Thermal Station

Varna's Thermal Power Station is still waiting for BGN 35.4 M of payments by Bulgarian State Electricity Company (NEK).

Representatives of the company managing the power station, which is part of Czech energy group CEZ (one of Bulgaria's three power distributors), announced that NEK has not paid its debts to their subsidiaries for months, Dnevnik.bg has reported.

Varna Thermal Plant "To Close", Employees Set to Go on Strike

All 316 employees of the thermal power station in Bulgaria's city of Varna are going out on strike.

They are demanding an end to the uncertainty surrounding the plant in Bulgaria's Black Sea city, which faces a potential shutdown and is currently now producing electricity, Bulgarian TV channel bTV has reported.
