Turkey’s home appliance sales soared in first quarter
Turkey's home appliance sales and exports soared in the first quarter of this year, according to a sectoral group head.
"In January-March, our sales and exports increased 40 percent and 26 percent, respectively, compared to the same period last year," said Can Dinçer, head of the White Goods Manufacturers' Association of Turkey (TÜRKBESD) on April 20.

Turkey's Kale Group has closed down its construction chemicals plant in Russia due to economic problems in the market, the group's chair has told Turkish weekly Ekonomist.
"This decision was actually made after the Ukraine crisis [began], but was recently realized," Kale Group Chair Zeynep Bodur Okyay was quoted as saying by the magazine on April 24.

Turkish technology giant Vestel Electronics launched the third generation of its domestically produced Venus smartphone on Nov. 17 with an eye to selling 1.5 million devices by the end of 2016.
Vestel Group Chief Executive Officer Turan Erdo?an said the company expected to sell 1.5 million devices in total by the end of 2016.
