Nuland, Pajtic: Opposition important for oversight of gov't

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland voiced support for Serbia along the path toward full membership in the EU.

She did this in a meeting with leader of the Democratic Party (DS) Bojan Pajtic, and underlined the importance of the opposition's role in the democratic oversight of the government.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has said that "not everyone in the region is willing to share with Serbia the burden of the work to stabilize the region."

Kammenos talks with US counterpart in Washington called off

Defense Minister Panos Kammenos will not be meeting his US counterpart Thursday as the encounter has been called off by Washington, sources told Kathimerini Tuesday.

Kammenos had been due to meet Defense Secretary Ashton Carter on his latest visit to the USA but will not hold talks with him or Deputy Defense Secretary Robert Work.
