 There can be no pollution of drinking water for people in Bregovo, as the pumping station near the areas flooded by the Timok River does not operate, Vidin Governor Albena Georgieva told FOCUS News Agency.

Bulgaria's northwestern municipality of Vidin has initiated steps to terminate the waste disposal contract with concessionaire Titan AS amid a garbage crisis of over a week, according to Dobromir Dilov, interim Mayor of Vidin.

Workers at the waste management company in Vidin launch a strike on account of unpaid salaries.

Ot of all 114, 103 people have started the effective protest Wednesday, as reported by the Bulgarian National Radio.

The mayor of the Bulgarian town of Vidin, Gergo Gergov, has been arrested on Thursday by the National Security Agency DANS, reports Nova TV national channel. 

According to the media, DANS officers searched the offices of Gergov and his deputy Borislava Borisova.
