Protesters glue hands to cover of Picasso painting
Two climate activists glued their hands to the perspex covering of Picasso's anti-war painting "Massacre in Korea" in a Melbourne art gallery yesterday, police, protesters and the gallery said. The painting emerged unscathed.

Chagall painting stolen by Nazis to be auctioned in New York
A painting by Marc Chagall, which was among 15 works stolen by Nazis and eventually returned by France to the heirs of the affected families, will go on sale next month in New York, the Phillips auction house said on Oct. 6.

Contemporary Istanbul to host leading galleries, artists

‘The Living Pyramid’ at Sakıp Sabancı Museum
The Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum (SSM) is hosting "The Living Pyramid" by Agnes Denes, a pioneer of ecological art.
Along with "The Living Pyramid," portraying our relationship with nature as a metaphor for our existence in the world, Denes' Manifesto, written in 1969, is also on display in the SSM garden.

Experts have found a hidden jug holder and basket in Dutch master Johannes Vermeer's famed painting "The Milkmaid" which he later painted over, Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum said on Sept. 8.
The discoveries in the work painted some 350 years ago shed new light on the technique of the enigmatic artist, ahead of the largest ever exhibition of Vermeer's work starting at the museum in 2023.
