Russia has launched a major offensive into eastern Ukraine, authorities in Kiev said, opening a new phase of its invasion after being thwarted in efforts to capture the capital.

Zelensky: Russia seeks to "destroy" Donbas

Ukraine has completed the questionnaire for accession to the European Union. This was announced by a representative of Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The questionnaire was presented to the Ukrainian president by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during her visit to Kyiv on April 8th.

"I read that Zelensky expressed his readiness to fight for 10 years. We don't have that much time, we will finish with you these days," Kadyrov said in an audio recording published on the Telegram of the President of Chechnya, RIA Novosti reports.

The 36-year-old beautician and her daughter fled Zaporizhzhia, in south-eastern Ukraine, in early March, after a bomb blast shattered all the windows of their apartment. Braced for an all-out Russian assault in the east, Ukraine vowed to "fight absolutely to the end" in strategically vital Mariupol, where the ruined port city's last known pocket of resistance was holed up in a sprawling steel plant laced with tunnels.
