BELGRADE - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met Vuk Jeremic, Serbia's former foreign minister and a candidate to the post of U.N. Secretary General, in Moscow on Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Serbia's top UN job hopeful Vuk Jeremic presented his platform on Thursday in New York, as part of what the UN dubbed "informal dialogues" with candidates.

Jeremic's 80-page platform to reform the UN has five parts: sustainable development, climate change, conflict prevention and peace operations, human rights and humanitarian relief, and UN revitalization.

Former Serbian Foreign Minister and UN General Assembly President Vuk Jeremic is the 9th candidate in the race for Ban Ki-moon's successor.

Jeremic is also the fifth candidate for the post of UN secretary-general from the former Yugoslavia.

Serbia officially has a candidate for the post of UN secretary-general. Vuk Jeremic on Tuesday thanked the Serbian government for supporting his candidacy.

In his reaction to the news, Jeremic told TV B92 it was a great honor and privilege to represent his country "in this kind of international competition." He also promised to do his best best representing Serbia.

The Serbian government will not support the candidature of Vuk Jeremic for the position of UN secretary-general, a Belgrade-based daily is reporting.

Former Polish Foreign Minister Radek Siroski has said he has "a very high opinion of Vuk Jeremic as a politician and minister."

President Tomislav Nikolic will not be supporting Vuk Jeremic's possible bid to become the next UN secretary-general "because Jeremic derided him."

Montenegro has formally submitted the candidacy of its Foreign Minister, Igor Luksic, as a candidate to take over as UN Secretary General.

The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) has called on authorities to, "as soon as possible," choose Vuk Jeremic as Serbia's candidate for the top UN job.

The party said on Tuesday this would be "a nationally responsible move."

President Tomislav Nikolic has revealed that he would not support the candidacy of Vuk Jeremic for the post of UN's next secretary-general.

Jeremic in the past served as Serbia's foreign minister, and as president of the UN General Assembly.
