Weather in Bulgaria: First Snow is expected on Tuesday. Cold, but without Siberian frosts in December

Monday will be the last warmer day. A serious cold snap of at least 5-7 degrees is expected from Tuesday, then the first snow will fall, the climatologist Prof. Georgi Rachev announced in the morning block of bTV.

The snow cover will not be thick and durable. In Northern Bulgaria it will be only 2-4 centimeters, and in the southern part of the country - rain mixed with snow.

ANM: Unstable weather alerts in most of the country, until Wednesday evening

On Tuesday, the National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued new Code Yellow and Code Orange alerts of heavy rains, as well as an information of atmospheric instability, to gradually hit the entire country, until Wednesday evening. According to meteorologists, between July 20, 10 am and July 21, 3 am, a Code Yellow of bad weather will be in force in most parts of the country.

Aid confirmed for farmers stricken by spring frost

Ljubljana – The National Assembly unanimously endorsed on Wednesday a law on measures to help farmers affected by the spring frost. It provides the basis for a final damage assessment and for emergency measures. The majority of deputy groups were in favour of making the aid available as soon as possible.

Heavy rain, hail hit Istanbul’s Asian side

Heavy rain and hail hit some districts of Istanbul's Asian side, particularly Çekmeköy and Sultanbeyli.

Residents of those affected areas covered their vehicles with carpets and blankets to protect them from the hailstones.

Motorists in Çekmeköy had to take cover under a bridge to wait for the heavy rain and hail which lasted for some one hour with intervals.

April frost damage could reach EUR 50m, minister says

Trebnje/Ajdovščina – The sub-zero temperatures hitting last week could result in EUR 40-50 million in damage caused to fruit and wine growers, Agriculture Minister Jože Podgoršek said on Monday as he continued visiting the frost-stricken areas. This is on a par with 2016 and 2017, when damage reached some EUR 45 million. He announced state aid measures.

Bulgaria: April Comes with Weather Surprises, Snow on Election Day

A Mediterranean cyclone will remind Bulgarians of winter on election day. The low atmospheric pressure zone is expected to form along the Adriatic coast at the beginning of the weekend, and on Sunday its center will cross Greece and head for the Black Sea.
