City starts to empty as Holy Week begins

With Monday's public holiday coming just before Labor Day on May 1 (Wednesday), a lot of Greek workers have arranged to take time off for vacations, as schools will remain closed until May 6 too.

Greece: The agreed new measures will be voted next Thursday

 

The painful measures of the Fourth Memorandum will be introduced in the following days in the Parliament to be voted on Thursday 18th May with the urgency procedure.

It will be introduced on Monday afternoon for discussion in the Committees of Economic Affairs, Production and Trade, Social Affairs and Justice.

Notaries staying away from foreclosures again this week

The central coordinating committee of Greece's unions of notaries on Tuesday called on its members to abstain from Wednesday's weekly auctions of foreclosed properties.

This week's ban on auctions of primary residences belonging to individuals with debts to the state comes in the wake of dozens of similar actions protesting the scheme that have delayed sell-offs.
