Whale sounds

In the beaches of Japan, lifeguards are sweeping the waters, ready to prevent the dangers swimmers face in Wakasa Bay, about 320 kilometers from Tokyo. Contrary to common belief, however, the threat is not from sharks but from dolphins, whose attacks in the area have injured at least 47 people since 2022, with some requiring hospital care.

The Archipelago Marine Protection Institute has discovered a dead dolphin, revealing another incident of “deliberate killing,” as stated by the organization. The incident was detected on the northwest coast of Samos in recent days.

A lonely whale, dubbed 52, has caused many to empathize. The creature has roamed the world in search for a companion but never gets an answer to its sounds. The solitary whale has been named 52 due to the 52-hert frequency of its mating calls that have been picked up by navy sonar detectives.
