Microsoft wins $22 bln US army contract for augmented reality gear
Microsoft has won a Pentagon contract for augmented reality headgear for soldiers worth $21.88 billion over the next decade, the company and the U.S. military announced on March 31.
The headsets, based on commercially available HoloLens, will make soldiers safer and more effective, according to Microsoft technical fellow Alex Kipman.
Microsoft to End Windows 7 Support
The company recommends for users to switch to Windows 10.
On January 14, exactly ten years after the launch of Windows 7, Microsoft stopped its technical support, according to a message on the company's website.

Microsoft is Closing Its Library of Ebooks
This month, Microsoft will close its library of eBooks, remove all content purchased by consumers, and pay compensations.
The company will fully refund customers' money and will even add $ 25 compensation to those who have taken notes in eBooks or have written annotations.

Microsoft Gives Up on Windows 10 Mobile
Microsoft appears to have abandoned its smartphone operating system ambitions, reported BBC.
The company's Windows 10 chief has tweeted that developing new features and hardware for the Mobile version of the OS was no longer a "focus".
Joe Belfiore added that he had also switched to Android himself.

Microsoft Paint brushed aside
Microsoft on July 24 announced the end of days for its pioneering Paint application as it focuses on software for 3-D drawing.
Paint drawing and image processing software that made its debut in 1985 with the Windows operating system was among the applications listed as "removed or deprecated" in a Windows 10 Fall Creators Update set for release later this year.
