UNWTO: Greek tourism is safe
The United Nations World Tourism Organization is reassuring about the potential impact of the heatwaves and fires on travel in the summer months in the Mediterranean. "If someone hesitates to visit Greece in July, they should do it in September," the director of the UNWTO for Europe, Alessandra Priante, told Kathimerini.

Türkiye 4th most popular global tourist destination
Türkiye is ranked fourth globally among tourism destinations in 2022, according to a leading international tourism organization.
According to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), 963 million people traveled in 2022, while the total expenditure was $1.1 trillion.
Albanian visitors to Greece break receipts record in 2022
Albanian tourist revenues in Greece rose spectacularly by 157% last year compared to 2021 and by 33% compared to 2019, Greek Deputy Minister for Tourism Sofia Zacharaki said after attending "The Future of Environmental Sustainable Tourism in Albania" (FESTA) forum in Tirana on April 3-5.
More than 3 million tourists visit Antalya
Antalya, one of Turkey's major holiday destinations, has welcomed 3.1 million foreign tourists since the start of the year.
Foreign tourist arrivals in the city, which is located on the Mediterranean coast, increased by 227 percent between Jan. 1 and June 12 from the same period of last year, according to data from the provincial directorate of culture and tourism.

Two Turkish towns included in best tourism village list
Two settlements in Turkey have been included in the U.N.'s Best Tourism Villages list, the U.N. World Tourism Organizations (UNWTO) have said.
Mustafapaşa, a town in the Central Anatolian province of Nevşehir, and Taraklı, a small district in the northwestern province of Sakarya, are among the "best examples of villages embracing tourism to provide opportunity," the U.N. body said.

Bulgarian and Greek Tourism Ministers Meet at UNWTO Forum in Athens
Bulgarian caretaker Tourism Minister Stela Baltova held a working meeting with Greek Tourism Minister Harry Theocharis during a UNWTO forum in Athens, Baltova's Ministry said in a press release Friday. At the meeting Baltova said that Greece is traditionally one of Bulgaria's best partners in tourism and thanked Theocharis for his readiness to strengthen and develop the cooperation.
