Moldova will host on Friday and Saturday a gathering of conservative, anti-gay and anti-abortion Christian groups called the World Congress of Families under the auspices of pro-Russian President Igor Dodon.

Also, the event has the support of the benefit fund of Igor Dodon`s wife, Galina Dodon, an NGO which allegedly conducts some political driven social campaigns.

President Igor Dodon announced on Monday evening that Moldova will host in September the annual meeting of the World Congress of Families, a US-based umbrella organisation of international groups supporting conservative social values.

"We are bringing together people around the world to discuss the beauty of the family," Dodon said.

The issue of state subsidies to Greek railway operator Trainose is a long way from being resolved, according to Vladimir Yakunin, the president of Russian Railways, which has expressed an interest in acquiring the firm.

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and President of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin talked in Belgrade on Thursday about the project aimed at modernizing the Serbian rail system and pace of reconstruction works.

Russian Railways chief Vladimir Yakunin explained on Monday that the Russian state company is not only interested in Greek service operator Trainose, but also in the country’s rail infrastructure.

Yakunin said the creation of a new rail gateway for cargo to Europe could constitute a productive investment.

"Such a project would be of great interest to us,» he added.

Russia's state-owned railway company has shown interest in acquiring the shares of the Port of Thessaloniki, Greece's second-largest city.
