Female wrestler becomes world champion second time
Turkish female wrestler Yasemin Adar Yiğit has gained her second world championship in her career after defeating her Egyptian opponent Samar Amer İbrahim Hamza in Serbia's capital Belgrade.
The 76 kg category Greco-Roman style wrestler said, "I tried to show the strength of the Turkish women to the world," on late Sept. 14.

Turkish female wrestlers have earned two gold and a bronze medal at the European Champhionship held in Hungary's capital Budapest.
On March 31, the fourth day of the tournament that will end on April 3, Evin Demirhan Yavuz defeated her Bulgarian opponent, Georgieva Selishka, in the 50 kg category and came first.

Turkey's Yasemin Adar won a bronze medal in the Tokyo 2020 Games on Aug. 2, making her Turkey's first-ever Olympic medalist in women's wrestling.

Adar won a bronze in the freestyle 76kg match by pinning down her Kyrgyz opponent Aiperi Medet Kyzy.
Adar had a 4-0 lead in the match at Makuhari Messe Hall.
Turkish wrestler Taha Akgül wins European championship
Olympic champion Turkish wrestler Taha Akgül on April 22 won gold in the 2021 European Championships in Warsaw.
Akgul secured his eighth European title as the 30-year-old beat his Russian opponent Sergei Kozyrev via disqualification (9-2) in men's freestyle 125-kg gold medal match.
He previously won gold in the 2016 Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro.
Wrestler Yasemin Adar wins silver
Turkish female wrestler Yasemin Adar won the silver medal on Dec. 16 in the 2020 Individual World Cup being held in Serbia.
Adar lost the gold medal game 3-0 by VFA (victory by fall) against her German opponent Aline Rotter Focken in the women's 76 kg category.
Focken won the gold, while Adar had to return home with a silver medal.

Turkish wrestler Adar bags silver in European final
Turkish wrestler Yasemin Adar earned a silver medal in the European Wrestling Championships in Rome on Feb. 13
Adar was beaten by Ekaterina Bukina from Russia 4-3 in the women's 76-kg final.
Adar, last year, won a silver medal at the World Wrestling Championships in the Hungarian capital Budapest.
