Republic’s first church preparing for its opening
Final preparations are almost complete for the opening of Mor Efrem (St. Ephrem) Syriac Ancient Orthodox Church in Istanbul, the first church built in the history of modern Türkiye.
While the church in the Bakırköy district is planned to be opened in two months, comprehensible work is being carried out to eliminate the last deficiencies.

First Orthodox church to be built in Turkey since 1923
Municipal authorities in Istanbul have given the go-ahead for the construction of the first Orthodox church in the city since 1923, Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reported on Wednesday.

Crowds barbecuing on coast in Istanbul's Yeşilköy and Florya anger locals
Tension has risen in the upscale Istanbul neighborhoods of Yeşilköy and Florya, after crowds mostly of Syrian refugees have in recent days been flocking to the coast to barbecue.
Residents of these neighborhoods in the Bakırköy district have been complaining about the noise and the trash left behind by crowds barbecuing on the coast.
