Yassıtepe excavations reveal ancient luxurious life in İzmir
The Yassıtepe excavations that are ongoing at the Yeşilova Mound in the western Turkish province of İzmir have unearthed the ruins of 5,000-year-old structures, as well as "luxurious" residents at the time.
Interest grows in İzmir's oldest settlement
Visitors have been flocking to İzmir's Yeşilova Mound, a site that proves that settlements in the city date back 8,500 years.
The head of the Yeşilova Mound excavations, academic Zafer Derin, told the Doğan News Agency that the mound had been visited by 36,000 people in two years.

Ancient grape seeds found in İzmir
Archaeological excavations on the Yassıtepe mound in İzmir's Bornova district have unearthed 5,000-year-old grape seeds that are believed to be the seeds of the Bornova Misket grape.
The findings were put on display at the Yeşilova mound visitor center following a ceremony.
