Bulgarian Socialist 'Dissident' MP to Run for Mayor Again

Georgi Kadiev, a lawmaker from the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), has voiced his intentions to run for mayor of Bulgaria's capital Sofia.

In Parliament, Kadiev has made no secret of his plans to either be an independent candidate or, if possible to unite left-wing, green and centrist parties around his bid.

8000-Year-Old Neolithic Settlement to Become New Tourist Attraction of Sofia

The neolithic settlement in the Slatina neighbourhood will become one of the tourist attractions of the Bulgarian capital next year.

This was announced by Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, Cross news agency reports.

The settlement is 8000 years old and is the oldest in the Sofia valley.

Sofia Secures Funding for Twelve New Metro Stations on Planned Third Line

The Bulgarian capital has secured funding for the construction of twelve new stations on the projected third line of the underground.

This was announced by the director of the municipal company Metropolitan Stoyan Bratoev, who together with the mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova inspected the construction of the Vitosha station in the Hladilnika neighbourhood on Thursday.

Subway Extension to Business Park Sofia Opens

Subway to the Sofia Business Park in Mladost 4 has been launched today.

The new segment of the underground network is 3-kilometer long with three new stops - Aleksandar Malinov, Akad. Aleksandar Teodorov- Balan and Business Park.

The total cost of the project amounts to EUR 44 M or a little less than EUR 15 M per kilometer.
