Layers of Yumuktepe Mound to be open to visitors
The Yumuktepe Mound in the southern province of Mersin, one of the oldest settlements in Anatolia dating back to 7,000 B.C., will offer its visitors the chance to discover the remains of many layers in an open-air museum that will be created as part of an archeopark project.

Italian archaeologist spends half century in excavations in Turkey
An Italian archaeologist, who has spent half a century at excavation sites in Turkey, has been working as a site director at Yumuktepe Tumulus in the southern province of Mersin for 28 years.
"I travelled all around Turkey for work. From now on, I want to tour it as a tourist," Isabella Caneva, a 76-year-old professor in love with the country, told state-run Anadolu Agency.

Ancient seal discovered in mound
An ancient seal dating back to around 9,000 years ago was unearthed in a mound in southern coastal city of Mersin. The seal, dating back to 7,000 B.C., was uncovered in excavations at Yumuktepe mound, located four kilometers west of the city center.
