In a bid to curb illegal migration and enhance border security, the construction of a modular concrete wall along the Van-Iran border line has reached a significant milestone, with 96 kilometers already completed.

The hottest day in Türkiye in 2022 was on July 15 in the southeastern province of Şırnak's Silopi district at 47.9 degrees, the Turkish State Meteorological Service has said in its latest report.
The bureau published a report indicating meteorological extreme values of the province and districts in 2022.

Terror attack kills 2 social workers in eastern Turkey
Two social workers delivering aid amid the novel coronavirus outbreak were killed in a PKK terror attack in eastern Turkey, local authorities announced on May 14.
The victims were in the Özalp district of Van province when gunmen opened fire with long rifles, also wounding a bystander.
Seven killed after shuttle carrying workers, light commercial vehicle collide in Turkey's Bursa
Seven people, including two children, were killed and more than 10 were injured early on Sept. 7 after a shuttle bus carrying factory workers collided with a light commercial vehicle in the northwestern province of Bursa.
The accident occurred at around 7 a.m. in the Babasultan point between Bursa's Kestel and İnegöl districts on the Bursa-Ankara highway.
PKK kills local AKP politician in Turkey's Diyarbakır
A ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) politician was killed by outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the Dicle district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır on Oct. 11, marking the second such homicide by the organization in two days.
PKK militants opened fire on Deryan Aktert, the party's district chairman in Dicle, while he was at his workplace.
