The Municipality of Thessaloniki signed the Climate Pact in the context of the municipality's participation in the European mission for 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030.

The pact was signed on Friday by Thessaloniki Mayor Konstantinos Zervas and local stakeholders and organizations.

A large number of ethnic Greeks attended a demonstration on Monday staged by the Omonoia organization in the southern Albanian city of Himare, demanding the immediate release of mayor-elect Fredi Beleri. 

Ten commercial streets in all the boroughs of Thessaloniki are getting a veritable makeover through a comprehensive program for their economic and urban revitalization, according to a relevant announcement.

Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias will be in the northern city of Thessaloniki on Thursday to visit several healthcare facilities and meet with local officials.

Nikos Tahiaos, a city councillor for the municipality of Thessaloniki, announced on Tuesday that he had submitted his resignation, accusing municipal authorities of pursuing personal goals and "political patronage."

There is no question that either Nikos Tachiaos or Constantinos Zervas will be elected mayor of Thessaloniki on Sunday. What is at issue is whether either will be able to run the municipal authority.
