China counts 2,700 cases of new virus, 80 deaths
The death toll from a new virus has risen to 80 with more than 2,700 confirmed cases, China's government said on Jan. 27, after the health minister warned that the virus's ability to "spread is getting stronger."
China also on Jan. 27 extended the Lunar New Year holiday by 3 days to next Sunday in an effort to contain the spread of the virus.

Health Minister: West Nile virus under control
The West Nile virus situation is being closely monitored and is under control, the Health Minister has said.
"There is no real concern that we will see the uncontrolled spread of the West Nile virus, but the Health Ministry and KEELPNO [Center for Disease Prevention and Control] HCDCP are on alert," Andreas Xanthos told Kokkino 105.5 radio.

Number of West Nile infections grows
Health officials in Greece have confirmed 17 new cases of West Nile virus this week, bringing this summer's total to 60 reported cases.
Three people, all over the age of 70, have died so far this week after being infected with the mosquito-borne virus, according to data released Thursday by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO).

West Nile Virus case confirmed in Greece
