Half of the Zoo Parks in Bulgaria have no Valid License

A check was started in the zoo in Haskovo after the death of two newborn lions. They died hours after their birth due to lack of care on the part of the staff. Against this background, the Ministry of Environment and Waters shows that half of the zoos in the country - 10 out of 20 - are without a valid license.

Sofia Zoo Will be With Free Entrance on March, 3

It was officially announced that all museums in the capital and the country will welcome their visitors free of charge on March 3rd. The zoo in Sofia also joined the initiative.

Ticket Prices for the Zoo in Sofia may Increase

The prices of the adult tickets for Sofia Zoo to be increased with 2 leva. The idea is for a one-time entry into the park for adults to pay 6 leva instead of the current 4 leva. Tickets for children at 3 years will remain at 2 leva. For smaller visitors the entrance is not paid.

This is suggested by the director of the municipal enterprise Dobromir Borislavov.

Zoo hits out at 'hypocrisy' over Jaguar deaths

The Attica Zoological Park at Spata, west of Athens, has accused its critics of "hypocrisy" over the fatal shooting of two rare jaguars that escaped from their enclosure in November.

The incident, which was announced on Saturday, triggered criticism of the zoo by the Panhellenic Animal Welfare and Environmental Federation and Giorgos Amyras, a lawmaker for To Potami.

Rescue Workers From 'Four Paws' Arrive to Remove the Final Animals From Albanian 'Zoo From Hell'

A team of Four Paws have forced their way into a private zoo and rescued the final few malnourished and diseased animals from it, the Bulgarian office of the International Animal Protection Organization announced, quoted by bTV. 

Among the rescuers. there were also employees of the Dancing Bears Park near Belitsa.
