Dog tortured, tossed from height of 20 meters saved in Turkey's Gaziantep
A dog was saved on Sept. 19 by fire authorities and zoo personnel after two unidentified perpetrators put a belt around its neck, dragged it and threw it from a height of 20 meters in the southeastern province of Gaziantep.
Rare white koala born at zoo
A koala at an Australian zoo has given birth to a rare white joey, staff announced on Aug. 22.
Handlers at the Australia Zoo on Queensland's Sunshine Coast say the pale animal born in January owes its white fur to a recessive gene inherited from mother Tia.
The mother has given birth to light-colored joeys in the past.

Metropolitan Zoo Offers a New Educational Tour
A new educational tour starts at the Metropolitan Zoo - now you can participate in feeding of some of the most attractive and most visited animals, BGNES reports.
Every Saturday and Sunday, zoo visitors can get involved in feeding monkeys, predatory cats, otters and hippopotamuses while learning interesting facts about their habits, the zoo said.

World's 'oldest' hippo dies at Philippine zoo
Bertha, believed to be the world's oldest hippopotamus, has died aged 65, the Manila zoo said on July 10, having beaten the typical lifespan for the mostly herbivorous mammals by decades.

Gaziantep Zoo welcomes new babies
The Gaziantep Zoo, Turkey's biggest and Europe's second biggest, has been welcoming new guests. Home to some 7,000 animals of 350 species, zoo staff have recently been excited about new-born babies. Among the new guests that were born in May are a horse, camel, lemur, gazelle, kangaroo and deer. The zoo officials are expecting to welcome new babies in the coming weeks.

Starving animals up for sale at Gaza zoo
A Gaza zoo owner is putting the last of his starving animals up for sale.
Mohammad Oweida once hosted family and school outings at his zoo in Khan Younis in the southern part of the Palestinian territory. But war and economic hardship intervened to turn the venture into what is now a sad collection of 15 emaciated animals that he can no longer afford to feed.

Gorilla born by rare caesarean section delivery at British zoo
A baby gorilla has been delivered by a rare caesarean section at a British zoo in an operation performed by a hospital gynaecologist, the zoo said on Feb. 23.
Vets at Bristol zoo in western England called in expert medical help after the mother Kera showed signs of potentially life-threatening pre-eclampsia.
