Aigio coastline threatened by mounting trash problem
The incoming mayor of the seaside Peloponnesian town of Aigio is appealing to Athens for funds to tackle a mounting trash problem, amid fears that some 5,000 tons of garbage dumped on the town's outskirts, including at popular beaches such as Selianitika and Akoli, poses a serious public health risk.
Traffic along Corinth-Patra highway diverted until Wednesday
Traffic will be diverted at the Selianitika junction of the Corinth-Patra highway in the northern Peloponnese from Saturday through Wednesday.
Motorists will be directed onto the old national highway as that section of the Olympia Odos highway is being repaved.
Section of Corinth-Patra highway to remain closed until January 26
The section of the Corinth-Patra highway in the northern Peloponnese from Selianitika in Aigileia to the Rio interchange will be closed to traffic until Thursday, January 26.
Portion of Patra-Corinth national highway to close Wednesday
A portion of the Patra-Corinth national highway was scheduled to close from 4 p.m. on Wednesday to 7 a.m. on Thursday on the stretch of the highway from the Aigio junction to the Selianitika junction in Achaia.
According to reports the highways closure was due to the demolition of a bridge.
