Slender-billed curlew goes extinct
The Hellenic Ornithological Society on Wednesday announced the extinction of a migratory bird, the slender-billed curlew, that had found a safe haven in northern Greece's wetlands on its treacherous annual journey from Europe to Africa.

The Hellenic Ornithological Society has welcomed the arrival on the Aegean island of Antikythira of a tagged female Eleonora's falcon after it made the long flight from the east African island nation of Madagascar.

Dozens of dogs poisoned in 10 days
More than 50 dogs were fatally poisoned within the space of 10 days in villages of the regions of Florina and Amyntaio in northern Greece, according to reports received by the Arcturos wildlife protection group, the Hellenic Ornithological Society and the Callisto nature conservation organization from locals and livestock breeders.

Two Egyptian vultures, Boris and Jennie, can now be monitored live after being equipped with satellite trackers, the Bulgarian Society for Protection of Birds (BSPB) has said.
Boris and Jennie, two adult vultures, are representatives of an animal species whose extinction rate is among the highest in Europe.
