North Korea confirms it carried out nuclear test

North Korea has confirmed it has conducted its most powerful nuclear test to date, marking the 68th anniversary of its founding with a reminder to the world that it may be edging closer to developing a warhead capable of striking the US mainland. The news of the test was confirmed in a state television news bulletin, according to Chinese news agency Xinhua.

Landslide at industrial park in China leaves 22 missing: Xinhua

A landslide at an industrial park in southern China buried more than 20 buildings and left 22 people missing on Dec. 20, state media reported, as more than 1,500 emergency workers searched the scene.

Rescuers pulled four people from the debris after the accident in the southern city of Shenzhen bordering Hong Kong, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

China officially ends its one-child policy

China announced the end of its controversial one-child policy on Thursday. Its strict and brutal enforcement left the country with an ageing population and shrinking workforce.

"Serbia preparing projects for China-CEE summit"

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has said that Serbia is preparing projects for the upcoming summit of China and 16 countries of central and eastern Europe.

Not even 10 percent of the USD 10 billion that the Chinese government had set aside for cooperation with southeastern European countries had been employed for projects, he told China's Xinhua agency in an interview.
